Shaoguan’s all national monitoring sections of surface water were found to have fairly good water quality!
Reporter learned from the city’s Bureau of Ecology and Environment that Shaoguan city has established a“1+4+N”water protection system this year, so as to strengthen the control and treatment of water pollution in downtown, villages, industries and porters, aiming to continuously improve the quality of the city’s water. In the first half of 2022, the city’s 13 national monitoring sections of surface water were found to have fairly good water quality, while the quality of drinking water from 9 county-level or above centralized supply sources was found to be up to standards.

To fight water pollution in a precise and scientific way, and carry out work according to the law, the Bureau of Ecology and Environment fully implemented the measures in the Action Plan of Fighting for Clear Water. The Bureau has firmly pushed forward the pollution control and treatment of water pollution in living areas and small rivers in the city, carry out stricter and more frequent inspection on sewage discharge of shipping industries and factories along rivers, agricultural production and livestock and poultry breeding, while good experiences of environmental protection have also been promoted.
By the end of June, 55.23 kilometers of urban (county) sewage pipeline had been laid in the whole city, with an annual target completion rate of 55%. 58.52 kilometers of township sewage pipeline had been laid, with an annual target completion rate of 291.1%. A total of 2 livestock and poultry breeding enterprises in the city have obtained their sewage discharge licenses, and 3,075 livestock and poultry breeding enterprises have finished the sewage discharge registration procedures. The departments of ecology and environment of the city have inspected 45 livestock and poultry farms (households) under the mechanism of "double random check”(not aforehand appointed inspectors or checking unit). Of the 152 villages registered by the municipality to finish the treatment of domestic sewage in 2022, 77 have completed rural sewage treatment project and been put into trial operation.
The city’s Bureau of Ecology and Environment will follow the instructions of the Communist Party Committee of Shaoguan and continue to carry out the work on the protection of surface water and water pollution control based on the principle of problem oriented, goal oriented and result oriented, to ensure the city will always have clear and safe water and safeguard its water ecological security, thus to provide a solid support for the high quality of development of Shaoguan city.
