Shaoguan is located at the southern foot of Nanling mountains. Surrounded by lofty mountains and high ranges, its excellent ecological environment makes it a great place for tea farming. In 2021, Shaoguan planted an area of 5.5 million square meters of tea plants, with an annual output of 7,734 tons. The main producing areas are Renhua County, Lechang County, Qujiang District and Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County. The city now has two national geographical indication products--white tea of Yanxi Mountain of Lechang county and white tea of Renhua county, and three regional public brands——white tea of Yanxi Mountain of Lechang county, Luokeng tea and white tea of Renhua county.

Nanmu "The Valley" tea garden covers an area of about 2.7 million square meters, which is the largest ecological tea garden in northern Guangdong province. Nanmu area has a popular folk song called Caicha Xi(tea picking song). The folk song has a simple and neat tune. Tea leaves pickers sing the song when they work and the song can echo in the valleys for a long time.
