Xinshao Town, Zhenjiang District: abandoned land turned into beautiful farmland

It is reported that the village's overall wasteland area is greater than 100 mu(a Chinese unit of area, equaling to 0.0667 hectare). All of these 100 mu of wasteland have been converted back to farmland this year thanks to the zealous rectification at the town and village levels, and sweet potatoes have now been planted. “The 100 mu of sweet potatoes, which have a production capacity of more than 2,500 kilograms per mu, not only boost the village's overall income but also give farmers more opportunities to find work nearby, which is beneficial for the community”, said Zhou Xinbin, secretary of the Party Committee Dongshan Village branch.


At the site of the 728-mu of reclamation paddy field in Huangtang Village and Qunfeng Village, Lishi Town, Zhenjiang District, the rice is ripe and is bending down, with soft rice smell filling the air. Farmers are busy with autumn harvest operations beneath the sunny sky. "We use rotation methods to cultivate rice and other crops, and develop ecological three-dimensional circular agriculture, which can not only effectively improve soil quality, reduce fertilizer use and planting costs, increase rice yield and quality in the coming year, but also achieve multiple harvests in one land and improve economic benefits." said the person from the Lishi township.


Lechang City: vigorously promote the development of Chinese herbal medicine industry


In the traditional Chinese medicine industry planting base of Lechang Xingu Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., a mountain is covered by a wide range of orange trees, and workers are weeding under the trees.


The company leases more than 2,000 mu of limestone barren mountainous wasteland from over 200 local farmers to plant 1,200 mu of traditional Chinese medicines, including tangerine, Evodia, chayote and Citrus aurantium L. Wushi Town, Qujiang District: promote modern pig farming


At the construction site of the ecological pig farm project in Zhanru Village, Wushi Town, Qujiang District, various engineering vehicles are shuttling back and forth, workers are stepping up construction to finish the project as scheduled.


The project covers an area of about 23,345 square meters, with a construction area of about 13,000 square meters, with 6,000 pigs being bred here now, which all belong to the breed of pig called Sanyuan pig. The main facilities include: a 4-storey high-efficiency pig houses, a power distribution room, a living area, a modern sewage treatment system and other ancillary facilities. The first phase of the project is expected to breed 20,000 pigs and with 20 standardized pig houses going to be built. The pigs will be mainly sold to cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and etc.


It is reported that raising pigs in multi-storey buildings is a modern, large-scale, intensive, intelligent and environmentally friendly new mode of pig raising that has emerged in China in the past two years, vigorously promoting the ecological and organic standardized production of the animal husbandry industry, advancing the comprehensive utilization of organic manure resources from livestock and poultry. In farms where this new method for pig raising is applied, of which manure treatment facilities and equipment are fully in place, increasing the utilization rate of organic manure resources to more than 90%, which can further promote the sustainable and healthy development of animal husbandry.


Baishun Town, Nanxiong City: ginger and bamboo chopsticks production promote the high-quality economic growth in the mountainous town

After putting into operation, the annual output value of the factory is expected to reach 30 million yuan.


At present, Baishun Town has brought in 6 investment projects, with a planned investment of 177 million yuan. And there are 5 investment projects undergoing the cooperation agreement signing process, with a total planned investment of 300 million yuan. The town will focus on projects such as bamboo products and wind power, making full use of its advantages in natural resources, so as to promote the economic development of the town and protect its ecological environment. 


Changba Town, Renhua County: pomelo production boosts the local economy


It's the harvest season of pomelo in the Jinzhe Agricultural Park of Changba Town, Renhua County. The 1,000 mu (a Chinese unit of area, equalling to 0.0667 hectare) of Shatian pomelos are ripe and usher in the picking period, presenting a pleasant harvest scene. 


The pomelo that grows in Jinzhe Agricultural Park is mainly the white flesh pomelo, whose flesh is sweet, crisp and juicy. The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, and it is the time for pomelo to go on sale. Farmers pack the picked pomelos into trucks and transport it to the Quality Control Center of the park to go through selection and cleaning processes. The staff would classify the pomeloes according to their size and quality and then transported to the market.


Jinzhe Agricultural Park has been upholding the business philosophy of green development, ecological planting and organic products, ensuring its products’ high quality. After more than ten years of endeavor, the planting area of honey pomelo and Shatian pomelo has expanded to more than 1,000 mu, providing more jobs for the local villagers and driving the development of rural economy.
