Spring Tea Harvest Begins in Shaoguan

Spring time has moderate temperature and abundant rainfall, which is ideal for the growth of tea trees. After going through the long winter time, the leaves of tea trees have gained a large number of tea polyphenols and amino acids. The tea leaves picked at this time is green in color and soft, which is called the "first spring tea". The spring tea leaves are always fresh and crispy in taste and rich in nutritional content.

Shaoguan is located at the southern foot of Nanling mountains. Surrounded by lofty mountains and high ranges, its excellent ecological environment makes it a great place for tea farming. In recent years, while vigorously promoting the cultivation and plantation of high-quality tea plants, Shaoguan actively promotes the creation and publicity of tea brands to gradually expand the influence of its tea industry. In 2021, Shaoguan planted an area of 5.5 million square meters of tea plants, with an annual output of 7,734 tons. The main producing areas are Renhua County, Lechang County, Qujiang District and Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County. The city now has two national geographical indication products--white tea of Yanxi Mountain of Lechang county and white tea of Renhua county, and three regional public brands——white tea of Yanxi Mountain of Lechang county, Luokeng tea and white tea of Renhua county.

Hongshan Town Tea Garden, Renhua County


Hongshan Town of Renhua County is also listed as one of the "Ten Best Tea Producers" in Guangdong province. The tea garden is about 1000 meters above sea level, with high concentration of negative ions in the air and large temperature difference between day and night, which is very suitable for the growth of white tea.



Yaoshan Wang Tea Garden, Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County


Yaoshan tea has a long lasting tea fragrance and delicate sweet taste. According to records, Ruyuan Yaoshan Tea was once delivered along the Xijing Ancient Road, all the way north into the capital city Xijing(called Xi’an now) and deeply loved by the literati there.

Nanmu The Valley Tea Garden, Nanxiong County


Nanmu "The Valley" tea garden covers an area of about 2.7 million square meters, which is the largest ecological tea garden in northern Guangdong province. Nanmu area has a popular folk song called Caicha Xi(tea picking song). The folk song has a simple and neat tune. Tea leaves pickers sing the song when they work and the song can echo in the valleys for a long time.



Zhujiang Yuan Tea Farm of Lanhe Village, Ba Zai Town,Wengyuan County

Zhujiang Yuan tea farm is known for its spring tea harvested in March and April, which is call Qingming tea (tea harvested during Tomb Sweeping Day). Here on the tea farm, you can have the first cup of spring Longjing tea if you come and visit between March and April.
